Canada – Prison noise demos for New Years at Toronto South Detention Center in Mimico and Barton Jail in Hamilton, Ontario. With 80 participants in attendance, the latter received a noisy barrage of paint bombs, fireworks, paint bombs, chunks of ice toward the surveillance cameras, and messages spray-painted including ‘H(A)PPY NEW YEARS’, ‘BL(A)CK DECEMBER’, amongst others. In the report-back, comrades wrote: “This year, our thoughts and actions were with the folks in the Grand Valley Women’s Prison, who have been struggling against the criminalization of queer prisoners, as well as Tamara Sol* … and to those facing repression from the eviction of the Hambacher Forest occupation in Germany.” *Tamara is serving a 7 year prison sentence in Santiago, Chile, as opposed to being on the run, as presumed in original communique
USA – A small group of antagonists gathered outside the youth jail in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a noise demonstration in solidarity with prisoners (published December 31st)
Germany – Arsons and sabotage against the open cast lignite mine operated by RWE at Hambach Forest on the night of December 31st, expressing a warm and rebellious embrace to imprisoned anarchist comrade Emma Sheppard on the anniversary of her arrest and in solidarity with the ongoing forest resistance to the mines expansion
USA – About 20 individuals gathered in Bloomington, Indiana, for a noise demonstration at the county jail on New Year’s Eve. Banners were unfurled, black flags flew, words of solidarity were exchanged, and dozens of smoke bombs and fireworks set off
Germany – Friends of undeclared work set vehicles ablaze belonging to the Federal Customs Administration, an executive authority of the German Ministry of Finance, in Leipzig during the night of New Year’s Eve
