Santiago, Chile: 1st public communiqué from the “Anti-Prison Solidarity Network with Juan and Marcelo”

The “A.S.N” was presented during the “Solidarity Rap” activity (14.07.2018)

received 08.08.2018

What is a prison?

Prison is a material structure through which it is intended to inhibit the acts of any person who transgresses the conduct imposed by the State. Thus, punishment and the imposition of socially accepted discipline are the regime in which the captives have to live, by this seeking to annul their actions, ideas and beliefs. These acts may constitute crimes and like the ones that challenge order, be of revolutionary politics. It is with these that we again take a stand – either by supporting or having solidarity with those companions who presently are encarcerated for having carried out subversive actions for a political idea of liberation. The commitment of these companions makes us want to support them in real ways, concretely because we share goals.

We, autonomous comrades and anarchists, have been carrying out libertarian initiatives and projects for some time – from different places and contexts – seeking to generate a break with the order, the norms and eveything that tries to impose the Capital and the State. It is under this light that several people have converged to collectively create the “Anti-Prison Solidarity Network with Juan and Marcelo”.

Who are Juan and Marcelo?

Juan Aliste Vega and Marcelo Villarroel Sepúlveda are subversive, autonomous and libertarian prisoners who are in the high security prison of Santiago, Chile, since July 2010 (Juan) and December 2009 (Marcelo).

Since very young these comrades have engaged in revolutionary struggles – during military dictatorship and after it – developing offensive actions against Capital and State. Attacks that were both to material structures and subjects that were part of the state apparatus. The times required positioning and determination, so they reasoned, trying to achieve this by joining Mapu-Lautaro, one of several political-military groups that existed in that period.

Their challange to the established order led to their arrest in 1991 and 1992, respectively. Prison was a circumstance – neither wanted nor sought by the life they chose – as one of them said in an old interview; during more than a decade they had to face confinement, the repression of the jailer and the own logic of that dreary institution.

Free again and, in the following years, a new situation causes impact on public opinion, police, state policy and the State. October 18th, 2007. A bank robbery, in the heart of the capital Santiago, against Security Bank. The assailants take the money, flee in different directions, two of them run into two police drivers, there is an exhange of shots and one is shot down, the policeman Luís Moyano. Defending capital cost him a great price: the death.

Those were the facts and the hunt would be unleashed: Juan, Marcelo, Carlos Gutiérrez Quiduleo* and Freddy Fuentevilla Saa** are exposed on television and flagged as the assailants and murderers of the policeman. They decide to become into clandestinity, one of them breaking an intra-penitentiary benefit, with which he had agreed to in 2003***.

On March 15th, 2008, Marcelo and Freddy are detained in San Martin de los Andes, Argentinian territory. Accused of illegal possession of weapons of war, they were later convicted to 3 years and 6 months. When they reached half of the sentence, on December 16th, 2009, they were expelled to Chile and taken to the high security prison. Juan is arrested on July 10th, 2010, at the Retiro bus terminal in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is immediately expelled to Chile and is also taken to the high security prison.

In Santiago de Chile – after 4 years of preventive detention – the trial took place in July 2014, condemning them respectively to 42 years (Juan), 14 years (Marcelo), 15 years (Freddy) in jail in what was known as “Security Case” and/or “Moyano Case”.

Meanwhile more than a decade has gone by since those events in the heart of Santigo – just like what they had to face later, like the harrassment of their families and close ones. Clandestinity, beatings, arrests, defamations, exposure to public opinion, prison, transfers to various units, condemnations. A process accompanied by the solidarity of anonymous comrades, groups, collectives, political organizations, through material and symbolical support – various activities were carried out, press notes, forums, lectures, musical shows, gatherings, street agitation by propaganda, posters, publications, online dissemination and, in an illegal fashion, a wide multiformity of subversive actions in Chile and several other places in the world.

What will we develop, as “Solidarity Network”?

Support and solidarity (in its multiple forms) is what we want to develop and project – in a practical, public and systematic way – the essential for us will be to stir up and inform about the situation of the mentioned comrades, through posters, propaganda and activities, concrete gestures that aim to “build a bridge” from the prison, between them and the ones “outside the walls”.

This type of open instances – occupying streets, diverse spaces, electronic media, associating with other groups and individuals, etc – are important because they provide knowledge about the situation of the comrades, their political ideas and practices, who exist and resist in spite of many adversities. Another important factor is to allow more people to inquire and take an interest in these anti-prison perspectives – a struggle amongst many against Capital and State. We intend to agitate and inform to create and join, to potentiate theory and practice, because when there is in conscience a radical idea clearly something must be done.

FACING THE MASSIVE INDIFFERENCE: ACTIVE ANTI-PRISON RESISTANCE!

FREEDOM FOR JUAN, MARCELO AND ALL THE PRISONERS OF SOCIAL WAR!

WHILE THERE IS MISERY… THERE WILL BE REBELLION!

Notes:
* Carlos Gutiérrez Quiduleo, Libertarian Weychafe (“fighter” in Mapuche language). The subversive history of the comrade goes back to the 80s, when he was part of the urban guerilla of the Youth Movement Lautaro (MJL). He was detained in January 1995, accused of illicit terrorist association, being released on bail in October 1998. He was then arrested in 2003, accused of robbing a Santander bank in Nuñoa, Santiago. He was released on bail in 2005 and sentenced to prison in 2006 for 5 years and 1 day. Later he is accused of participation in the assault on the Security Bank in Santiago. He was arrested in November 28th 2013 in Angol, in the region of La Araucanía, by the PDI team, after 6 years in clandestinity, being swiftly transfered to the maximum security section of the high security prison in Santiago. Got out of prison in September 10th, 2015.

** Freddy Fuentevilla Saa (autonomous subversive). The subversive history of the comrade goes back to the 90s, when he was part of the urban guerilla of the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR). After being flagged as a participant in the Security Bank robbery in Santiago, he went underground, being arrested in argentinian territory, then expelled to Chile and convicted (facts reported in the text). Got out of prison in June 18th 2018.

*** Marcelo Villarroel Sepúlveda (subversive libertarian). He is the comrade who broke the intra-penitentiary benefit, to which he had accessed in December 28th 2003. His sentence goes until February 26th, 2056.

We can make abrief summary of the sentences: illegal terrorist association, 10 years and 1 day for its participation in the urban guerrilla Mapu-Lautaro. Damage to fiscal vehicles with serious injury to carbinieri, 3 years and 541 days, due to armed attacks on police vehicles in communes of Cerro Navia and Conchalí. Co-author of a qualified terrorist murder, 15 years and 1 day, for the armed confrontation with the escort of Intendente Luis Pareto, where 3 detectives died in the commune of Las Condes. Theft with intimidation (Law 18.314), 10 years and 1 day, for the expropriation of a state bank and a truck of chickens, which were distributed in a town in commune of Renca. Finally, an attack with explosives against the home of the spanish ambassador, 8 years and 1 day, during the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the massacre of the ancestral people in this territory. All these actions were carried out in Santiago de Chile.

Chile: Communiqué from anarchist Juan Aliste Vega – Latest medical reports and revolutionary solidarity

Juan Aliste Vega’s message from the Prison Hospital

Our negotiations and tenacity inside and outside prison over the past four months have achieved a first result: on Thursday 19th July I was transferred from the High Security Prison to the Prison Hospital to have an ECG and other tests I needed. The following morning, Friday 20th July, I was transferred again – amidst a huge deployment of police and prison guards – to the INCA (Institute of Neurosurgery) to finally have an angiography, a test in order to get a more detailed image of the area where the cerebral damage I sustained from blows inflicted in the past is to be found.

It is worth mentioning that this test is crucial and necessary for the operation that I will need to have very soon. In the end the test was carried out without any problem and the medical team involved treated me in a dignified and correct way.
After the test I was transferred to the Prison Hospital by ambulance; from there I will be discharged soon to be taken back to the High Security Prison.
Medical language and its technical details can only partially describe my current situation. There are still many obstacles to be overcome, just as difficult or even more difficult than this test, before I can undergo the brain operation, which had already been defined ‘urgent’ last March: obstacles and barriers erected because for the State I am an outcast, closely watched by the local police who act according to the hard logic of revenge and fury, and moreover I’m submerged in a disgusting bureaucratic quagmire.
These words are far from victimization and lament, but are full of revolutionary, untameable and subversive vitality. In the constant practice of reciprocal revolutionary solidarity, which we subversive political prisoners have been carrying out for years, it becomes necessary to relate any step taken in this battle. It wasn’t the first nor will it be the last battle we have to face as outcasts of the State.
I’d like to take the chance to rejoice in the various initiatives carried out in Santiago, Concepciòn, Valdivia, Temuco and other places, as well as the internationalist initiatives that were able to cross the borders of Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Spain … Initiatives and gestures with which we put solidarity into practice, solidarity that builds and strengthens the network of subversion; initiatives and gestures that are vital to us like oxygen and support us in the path towards the ultimate liberation from prison.
We remain here, not one step back, without bowing our head, proud of the wonderful rebel complicity that goes everywhere, spreads, multiplies and allows us to face everything that will come.

While poverty exists … there will be rebellion!

Javier Recabarren present in Combatant Youth – March 29 and every day …out in the street! (A)

Banner in memory of comrade Javier Recabarren

29.03.2018

During the “Day of the Young Combatant” we have made a banner in memory of the anarchist Javier Recabarren who died three years ago, run over by a transantiago bus.

His action mode, relative to street battle and anti-speciesism calls, or anti-prison – in short, his participation on the broad anti-authoritarian struggle – continues present in our memory.  He was a comrade, a affine brother that we bring to the street, by means this minimal propaganda gesture, from somewhere in Santiago.

Santiago, Chile: Sealed the padlocks of a Teletrak

Members of the Anonymous Band for Sabotage in the early hours of June 18 made a sealing of two padlocks from a Teletrak betting office located in Santiago. Earlier we harassed their customers with an undesirable noise, this time we went by their locks.

“…We will continue breaking your windows, we will continue painting your walls, we will continue fucking your locks, we will continue shouting in front of faces… We will continue in foot of war!” –Ekkaía.

Chile: In memory of Javier Recabarren; about the protest against McDonald’s on Oct. 18th 2014

McDonald’s attacked during the protest of October 18th 2014

On October 18th 2014, from 2pm, an animalistic protest against McDonald’s was held from Plaza Italia to Los Héroes in Santiago.

We calmly marched as a small bloc of punks and anarchists, who joined together with the desire to participate in that protest generating a spontaneous destructive revolt against the industry of plastic food and death of animals. When the crowd (alongside the bloc) reached the corner of Santa Rosa with Alameda St. (where a McDonald’s is located), animalists began shouting at the salaried slaves of that place, who ended up lowering the security shutters. That’s when a few hooded youths and others with faces uncovered (among them the compa Javier Recabarren) started kicking and hitting the shutters with sticks and whatever else they could get their hands on, until they managed to bend a shutter to make their way in through a hole. However, this action was prevented by cops who arrived at that moment, making the comrades disperse among the crowd.

The police, who outnumbered the protesters, began to chase the hooded ones, until two cops caught Javier. Several people tried to de-arrest him, but the cops pushed them away with baton charges, injuring several comrades. This action generated more hatred among the hooded ones towards the disgusting cops, so we rushed to the police checkpoint (where Javier was) and the cop bus, where more compas were detained. In a moment of despair, the cops were unable to control the revolt, and that’s when Javier opened the door and got off the cop car running and mocking the authority, leaving the bastards totally humiliated.

Javier rushed towards the crowd, disappearing in it (most people cowardly advanced without giving aid to what was happening behind; which is typical), while all of the comrades of the small bloc who remained un-arrested scattered. I personally noticed that the cops were desperately searching for someone among the protesters, and that’s when I was approached by Javier and a punk comrade. Javier told me: “sibling, I escaped from the patrol car” and upon saying those words the compa let out a laugh. Then he told me: “… but I’m being followed; they’re still looking for me; cover for me.” When I realized that the comrade was being followed, I immediately told him: “Compa, put yourself next to me to pass unnoticed, and split from your comrade; you’ll meet later in a little square.” And so we walked among the crowd, and as he was small, Javier hid himself between my clothes and the mass. The cops didn’t manage to catch him.

Javier laughed because he told me it was easy to escape from the cops, who idiotically left the door of the car unlocked, but he was a bit anxious as they were looking for him. Shortly afterwards we arrived at the agreed little square and saw that his punk comrade was also able to get away from the cops, as he was there waiting for him.

The grinning smile of Javier Recabarren, having escaped arrest, turns out to be a good subversive memory of revolt against all forms of Power and authority.

JAVIER RECABARREN PRESENT
… in the living memory and action for Total Liberation!

Javier Recabarren, an 11-year-old anarchist comrade, vegan and staunch defender of the struggle for animal liberation, fell dead on March 18th 2015 after being hit by a Transantiago bus on Radal with Alameda St. in Santiago, Chile. To find out more about the comrade’s life, you may read the “Publication in the rebellious and insurgent memory of Javier Recabarren” in Spanish; a fanzine which includes a compilation of words and actions in response to a callout one year after his death.

Santiago: Action for World Vegan Day

Other brothers and sisters already said it a couple of years ago, today we reaffirm it. November 1st should be a day of action for animal liberation, hostility towards the enemy, propaganda against domination in all its forms; not a day of festivity for veganism.

In the early morning of November 1st 2016, we put a noise bomb inside a butcher shop in Santiago. We had checked its infrastructure long ago; that place of death of thousands of animals destined for consumption by disgusting humans. A perfect hole served to place our little din of Revenge.

These useless ones know very well why we harass them. The pact between comrades in affinity is already a fact; from here on, the attack won’t stop.

DEATH TO THE SLAUGHTERER, ATTACK THE BUTCHER SHOPS!

June 11, 2016: Against Maximum Security Prisons – Against Every Prison

PDF versions versions of the call-out: for reading | imposed

June 11th 2016: International Day of Action

For June 11th, 2015, we emphasized transition in the struggle and in the lives of the prisoners we support. This year we’re focusing on a different kind of transition: the restructuring of the prison system and thus doubling down on opposition to Maximum Security, isolation, and `s. High-security facilities are not new: for example, Communications Management Units isolated Daniel McGowan and Andy Stepanian for years. But now we are at a new juncture: there is both a fresh focus on the part of the authorities reorganizing prisons to maximize repression against long-term and combative prisoners, while simultaneously cutting costs. In response there has been a wave of resistance and revolt–in the streets and in the prisons. As this wave spreads organically, we feel impelled to contribute in support of our imprisoned friends and comrades.

Around the world, repression intensifies against anarchists, their comrades, and their families. The left-wing SYRIZA government in Greece continues the isolation of rebellious prisoners in the C-type maximum security prisons. The Spanish state attempts to criminalize anarchist solidarity through an “anti-terrorist” spectacle of raids, arrests, and show trials. Anarchists from Santiago to Kansas City face decades in prison for choosing the path of revolt and for their refusal to bow before pressure from the state. Everywhere we look: the state’s jaws clamp down on rebellion.

But all this cannot break our comrades or the spirit of our struggle. As Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar are sentenced to twelve years in prison, anarchists respond to their persecution with smoke and shattered glass. As the Greek state levels its force against the families of the imprisoned comrades of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and condemns Nikos Maziotis to life in prison, fugitive comrade Pola Roupa attempts to hijack a helicopter to free the imprisoned fighters. As Osman Evcan and Eric King both fight the state’s attempts to starve them for their refusal to consume flesh, comrades mobilize to ensure that their demands are backed with acts of solidarity. As the Chilean state continues to arrest and imprison anarchists, an intransigent minority strikes back in vengeance. As the State of Ohio continues to restrict Sean Swain’s communications, those holding the controls find their names and addresses spread online. As the state constructs an “anti-terrorism” roundup in Belgium, the multiform struggle against prison society there continues, unflinching and defiant. As the United States prison system continues its brutal enforcement of white supremacy and the social liquidation of undesirables, prisons from Alabama to Nebraska face the flames of rebellion. Everywhere we look, the revolt against prison society deepens and spreads.

Santiago, Chile: Flyers at the place where 11-year-old comrade Javier Recabarren was killed

On March 15th 2016, we went to the place where the anarchist comrade Javier Recabarren fell dead [on March 18th 2015] and threw dozens of flyers in his memory with the intention of actively remembering him, of bringing him out in the street during this week of agitation – the street where he was active, anonymously attacking the forces of order and insulting them; where he propagandised ideas and practices antagonistic to this rotten society on public occasions as well. This is our way to remember him, as a small rebel who contributed to the struggle against domination, and total liberation, in multiple forms.

Santiago, Chile: Pet shop sabotaged for a Black December

ANIMALS ARE NOT MERCHANDISE. BOYCOTT, SABOTAGE AND ATTACK AGAINST MERCHANTS AND EXPLOITERS OF ANIMALS. DIRECT ACTION AGAINST EVERY FORM OF DOMINATION! ANIMAL, HUMAN AND EARTH LIBERATION!

Along with educating and informing, (…) taking yourself out of the laws of the capital system, (…) spraying and sabotaging companies (…) we are not thinking only of the animals but of the whole ecosystem that is getting worse every day. If we should destroy the property of those who support animal exploitation then we will not hesitate to use all our weapons, even burning that evil place.
(“Animal Liberation,” song by comrade Sebastián ‘Angry’ Oversluij)

In the capitalist and authoritarian society, speciesism is one of the pillars on which domination is sustained, materializing in power relations that transform animals into objects for human consumption in the form of food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation or as pets under the ownership of a human.

By inserting anti-speciesism as part of the fight against all forms of authority, an everyday life without animal products has as its inevitable complement direct action against the exploiters and merchants of animals.

Thus, rejecting all reformist or victimist logic about animal liberation, we sabotaged the “Exotic” pet shop on the night of December 1st, sealing with liquid steel the padlocks that allow access to the place where animals are sold as merchandise. At the site, located on Departmental Avenue, we left a note so that there was no doubt what our action was about. As the sun rose, the owners could not open their business based on cages and the captivity of non-human individuals; our action fulfilled our goal: to disrupt the normal functioning of the oppression of our lives and that of the animals.

We do not want laws that are more compassionate to animals or larger cages. Our action is an expression of the desire for the destruction of all forms of confinement and domination.

We respond in this way to the invitation made by our compañeros in Greece, Panagiotis Argirou and Nikos Romanos, taking part in a Black December in which we want to intensify the anti-authoritarian transgressive action and the networks of complicity between comrades, seeking to take them beyond a specific moment or month.

To contribute to revitalizing anti-speciesist action in our own territory is also our form of solidarity with the anarchist and vegan prisoner Osman Evcan, on hunger strike since November 10th 2015 in the prisons of the State of Turkey, who risks his life using his body as a weapon demanding the restoration of vegan food in the prison.

So that the anti-speciesist tension is made visible in the offensive anarchic actions through cells of comrades who organize and take action without hierarchies, sharpening convictions combined with creativity, caution and different means and materials to hit multiple points of the network of domination.

Solidarity with Mónica Caballero, Francisco Solar and all anarchist prisoners in Chile and throughout the world.

Chile: Responding to the Black December call from Greek prisons

– In the framework of the call for a Black December.
– Two years since the death in combat of anarchist Sebastián Oversluij.
– To the subversive, revolutionary, anarchist and antiauthoritarian rebels who fight for the destruction of all forms of Power and Authority in the whole wide world.

«We want to remember the beauty of paralysing the social space-time through smaller or larger social short circuits. We want to remember how dangerous anarchy may become, when anarchy wants to…» For a Black December. Nikos Romanos, Panagiotis Argirou.

From Greek prisons, from everyday resistance in the belly of the beast of the prison society, originates a call for remembering the instability of social peace by constantly threatening to break the normative, which invites us to make this particular remembrance an initiative multiplied within the multiformity of the antagonist and antiauthoritarian attack, which invites us to propagate action that goes beyond theory, leaving no room for excuses or lethargies.

The comrades developed the idea of generating this wide context of coordination beyond languages and borders for the coming month. The anarchist war does not stop at any territory, therefore it’s indispensable to demonstrate internationalism, active/combative solidarity, iconoclastic memory through deeds, as well as our anarchic values and principles that recognise a life dedicated to the destruction of all forms of domination, setting sights on individual and collective liberation.

«They think that those expectations you craved for were buried along with your body, riddled by the mercenary bullets of a miserable pawn of the State/Capital, but they are wrong on a single thing: Our idea of Freedom does not die. We become brothers and sisters with every form of propaganda you used, we value your total and complete devotion, and that is what we vindicate today.» With Tears in the Eyes, With Closed Fists. Late December 2013. Santiago, Chile.

We remember Anarcho-Insurrectionist and Nihilist comrade Sebastián Oversluij Seguel, who fell in combat in an attempt to expropriate a Banco Estado branch in the neighbourhood of Pudahuel, Santiago, Chile, on December 11th 2013. The comrade entered the bank announcing the robbery, and unsheathed a submachine gun; it was at this moment that he was gunned down by the security guard, who had a strong track record in training and military missions; before dying, the comrade fired his gun but unfortunately failed to hit the hired bastard assassin William Vera.

Two years have passed since the fall of our comrade, and his rebellious memory is more alive than ever; activities and accounts of close ones spread like a plague so as to bring a brother to the present. That morning was clearly not the only thing he was about; the comrade contributed with his combative music, participated in squats, social centres, antiauthoritarian activities, and of course, he did not keep himself away from violent action against Power.

This Black December and our contributions from within action, also go out to you…

«(…) at present, when we participate in street battles at neighbourhoods and/or universities, we go out to the streets with a clear discourse-action, keeping ourselves away from armchair criticism, self-complacency and lousy arrogance; we bet on the permanent conflict against the State-Capital, this is our objective, and we move forward with certainty on these difficult paths of anarchic struggle.» Coordinated Anarchist Group – GAC. November 5th 2015. [Santiago, Chile.]

With the passage of time and the experiences that we build, we have realised that it is extremely important to be clear about our discourses-action, staying away from lamentable criticisms that simply become setbacks and do not really contribute to antiauthoritarian struggle; we therefore believe we have to defend our values, our rebellious principles, our insurrect projection to aim at objectives and put them into practice – because we want to – for no other reason; we bet and want the conflict.

Let us make ourselves part of the call for the spread of foci of disruption of capitalist normality, by sabotage in its multiple forms, by constant attack against every symbol of domination, their institutions and those who give their lives for defending them. Let’s form part of this call for the vindication of the combative memory of our dead and imprisoned brothers and sisters in the development of the social war anywhere in the world. Let’s extend tensions towards autonomy and the proliferation of horizontal practices, let’s multiply the networks of support and solidarity between those having affinity with each other, let’s make constant conflict a daily occurrence, with liberating ideas and practices that give no place to the advocates of this society, this society of suffocation, incarceration, torture and death.

Let’s continue, compas, let’s advance towards total liberation, towards anarchy…

Along with our sisters and brothers kidnapped in the prisons of Power and along with our clandestines who evade the cops in Chile, Greece and the world…

Along with our dead sisters and brothers in Chile and Greece: Heriberto Salazar, Christos Kassimis, Christos Tsoutsouvis, Michalis Kaltezas, Norma Vergara, Claudia López, Jhonny Cariqueo, Alexandros Grigoropoulos, Mauricio Morales, Lambros Foundas, Pavlos Fyssas, Sebastián Oversluij, Jorge Saldivia, Javier Recabarren, Spyros Dravilas, and so many others…

International coordinated actions in solidarity with Evi Statiri (on hunger strike since 14/9)

Between the 12th and 17th of September 2015, some participants in the network of Contra Info carried out a series of actions in solidarity with Evi Statiri, prisoner in struggle in Greece, who has undergone hunger strike since September 14th, demanding an end to the preventive detention that was imposed on her six months ago.

Evi Statiri is incarcerated as a result of the vengeful mania that the repressive apparatuses of Greek democracy unleashed, after the failed escape plan of the imprisoned comrades of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire in early 2015, targeting relatives and friends of members of the organisation. When the Power fail to make subversive prisoners bow down to them, they lay their hands on their close and supportive environment, seeking to sow fear and punish what does not fit into their heavy bibles of legislature, what transcends the prison walls, what goes beyond the polarity between innocence and guilt: solidarity.

Following the decision of Evi Statiri to choose hunger strike as a means of struggle, we’re calling out to comrades worldwide to strengthen this cry for freedom through multifaceted anarchist action. So that it resonates in the streets: EVI STATIRI OUT ONTO THE STREETS!

Below are a few photos from actions that took place in the territories controlled by the states of Bolivia, France, Greece, Portugal, Chile and Spain. We look forward to receiving your contributions at contrainfo[at]espiv.net

A banner was hung in La Paz (Bolivia), reading: “From Bolivia we salute you, compañera Evi Statiri, abducted by the Greek state”; flyers were also distributed: “From Bolivia to Greece, freedom for Evi Statiri – Your struggle from inside the prison is a sign of indomitable ferocity in the face of the Power and repression”

Leaflets and flyposting in Toulouse (France): “Solidarity with Evi Statiri, political prisoner in Greece – Evi Statiri is detained on remand at Koridallos prison, in Greece, since the 2nd of March 2015, arrested for being the life companion of Gerasimos Tsakalos, imprisoned member of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire (international anarchist revolutionary organisation). After being refused her liberation once again, she commences a hunger strike on the 14th of September. Fire to the borders – Fire to the prisons”

Banners at the Athens Polytechnic School, Exarchia (Greece): “Neither innocent, nor guilty – Solidarity with Evi Statiri” / “Evi Statiri, hold strong – We are all family of the Cells of Fire – Death to the judges!”

A banner was placed in one of Lisbon’s most central and tourist locations (Portugal): “Freedom for Evi Statiri”; leaflets signed by Some Anarchists were also handed out, providing an update on Evi’s situation: “Internationalist and anarchist solidarity with Evi Statiri – After 6 months in preventive detention, an act of pure vengeance and arbitrariness of the Power, Evi Statiri initiated a hunger strike on September 14th 2015, in the dungeons of Greek democracy, until her unconditional release. (…) Freedom for those who are in prison cells – Immediate release of Evi Statiri – Lifting of the restrictive measures against Athena Tsakalou!” (PDF in Portuguese)

Banner in Santiago (Chile): “«Fear may rule, but it cannot reign in the hearts and minds of free human beings» – Evi Statiri out onto the streets!”

Slogans were spray-painted in the streets of Iruña/Pamplona, Navarre (Spain) — Evi askatu! (“Free Evi!” in Basque) and more…

“Until the total destruction of all the prisons – Evi free”
“Freedom for Evi Statiri”
“Freedom for Evi Statiri, compañera in Greece”

Santiago: Incendiary sabotage against PROQUIMSA industries

“Life is a journey by parachute, and not what you want to believe. We are falling, falling from our zenith to our nadir, and we leave the air stained with blood to poison those who will come to breathe it tomorrow. Within yourself, outside yourself, you will fall from your highest to lowest point because that is your destiny, your miserable destiny. And the higher you fall from, the higher you will bounce, and the longer you will be remembered by the stone. We have jumped from our mother’s bellies or the edge of a star, and we are falling. Oh, my parachute, the sole perfumed rose of the atmosphere, the rose of death, tumbling between the stars of death. Have you heard? That is the sinister noise of closed breasts. Open the door of your soul and come out to breathe outside. You can open the door that the hurricane slammed, with only a whisper.” [Vicente Huidobro, Altazor]

On Tuesday, June 9, according to one of the many calendars of domination. Our contradictory wrists carry watches that indicate that it’s ten till two in the morning. The cold is chilling, but we’re well equipped. Long minutes walking to enter the outskirts of the industrial park Lo Boza, in the municipality of Pudahuel – a territory substantially faded by the uncontrolled advance of the techno-industrial system and the active complicity of the submissive population, which has been enchanted by this regime of hate and death. “Where the waters meet” was once home to fertile, colorful land; for the time being, it is a deposit of human waste, orderly zombies arriving early to work in the morning. The air is torn by hundred airplanes that land with impunity on the high-density concrete of the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, the soil is dirtied by industries that spring up faster than mushrooms in the Valdivian forest, the water is “mis-treated” by some of the largest water treatment plants in South America.

Our target is the industrial facilities of PROQUIMSA, speciesist experimentalists, torturers of our brothers and sisters. They are providers of consumables for the chemical industry, in its broadest spectrum of productive horror.

We sabotaged one of the several “electrical distribution boxes” that serve these spaces of death; fire was our destructive element, two chemically activated incendiary devices that illuminated the night for a time. They did not achieve quite the desired effect, but the act serves as a rehearsal for the qualitative advancement of our actions. We will strike harder every time! In one way or another, we thought that burning one of these “boxes” might produce wider blackouts in the facility, but it did not – there was only minor material damage. We should research more on the network of electrical supply and distribution in these zones; we believe that we only affected the local circuits, belonging to the exterior illumination of the enterprise.

Our plans, wills, and resources advance in secret, but without putting a foot on the brakes. Our fight to the death against this system of domination knows no strategic pause, much less theoretical revision.

For autonomous action in the broadest sense!

We are capable; we have the tools within reach. Intelligence, love, conviction! While our brothers and sisters die in different types of cages, we cannot help but act – there are no excuses.

Action against ourselves is here and now. Action against our enemies is here and now. Action against the defenders and false critics of the patriarchy is right in front of our noses. Sharpen the conflict, overcoming our negative egos!

Month for the Earth” – “Black June” is part of one of the many proposals for coordination and effective attack. For us, it holds all kinds of contradictions and tensions, but they are perfectly manageable, absorbable, spit out, well received, thrown out, armored, vomited, enjoyed. We believe that this is a tool for the proliferation of certain tactical/practical discussions and dispositions, theoretical tangles, and maybe some synthesis of these experiences. We are part of this call as a complementary part of our integral construction of constant tension. Against the society of domination!

With Mauricio Morales, Spyros Dravilas, Pelao Angry and so many comrades who have departed this physical plane.

Santiago: Attacks on Bci and BancoEstado branches

Claim of responsibility for the explosive attack on a Bci bank branch in the district of La Cisterna and the incendiary attack on a BancoEstado branch in downtown Santiago:

While an apparent calm prevails in the Chilean territories and a festive ambience fills the streets as a result of the football circus that alienates those who voluntarily succumb to stagnation, we decided to carry out a small destructive gesture so as to show are solidarity in action with our imprisoned comrades. We are not indifferent to the ghosting of Tamara Sol to the women’s prisons of San Joaquin, nor do we forget the conditions under which our comrades are jailed; Juan Flores, Nataly Casanova, Enrique Guzmán, Javier Pino, Natalia Collado, Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar. We do not forget the long term subversive prisoners, nor do we forget the Mapuche political prisoners.

On Wednesday June 24th, at 00:30 in the night, we blew up the Bci bank branch located near the bus stop 22 of Gran Avenida, destroying the biggest part of the ATM stations. We also claim responsibility for the incendiary attack that burned the ATM stations of a BancoEstado branch at the junction of Matta Avenue and Chiloe, on June 13th.

May the flames and the uproar reach your cells!

Chile: Nataly, Juan, Guillermo stopped their hunger strike on June 5th; Enrique being sent back to prison on June 10th

Santiago, May 20th: “Whoever forgets the comrades in prison forgets the war itself – Insurrect solidarity!”

On June 5th 2015, the comrades Nataly Casanova, Juan Flores and Guillermo Durán ended their hunger strike, which they had conducted from April 13th/14th, judging that the most important of their demands have been met.

You may read their latest letter, in Spanish, here.

Today, however, it became known that their comrade and close friend Enrique Guzmán is being sent back to prison.

During the morning of June 10th, the competent court of San Miguel ruled in favor of prosecutor Orellana, who revoked the total house arrest for Enrique and demanded he be once again sent to pretrial detention. When we received the news, the comrade was still at his home waiting for the court to order the cops and the Investigations Police (PDI) to go looking for him in order to return him to prison.

Disseminate urgently!

Chile: Nataly Casanova moved out of isolation; Enrique Gúzman put in house arrest

Two of the demands put forward by anarchists Nataly Casanova, Juan Flores and Guillermo Durán, who are on hunger strike since the 13th/14th of April, have been achieved:

– Nataly Casanova was transferred into the 2nd wing of the San Miguel prison – where also comrade Tato (Natalia Collado) is being held – and receives visits twice a week. Unsurprisingly, the gendarmerie (Chilean prison service) stated that this had nothing to do with the hunger strike and the reason why Nataly’s transfer did not take place earlier was to ensure she would not be together with Tamara Sol Farías Vergara in the same wing – see update on transfer of Tamara Sol from San Miguel to the San Joaquin prison in Santiago.

The CAVJ/Anti-prison Collective Vuelo de Justicia report that, recently, Nataly Casanova demanded direct visits with Juan Flores, whom she’s not allowed seeing for months except in the same court hearings. The judges once again denied this request, in yet another attempt to suppress the relationship of affinity and love between the two comrades.

– On June 5th, Enrique Gúzman was released from the Santiago 1 prison and moved to total house arrest. Read all about it here.

Santiago: Barricades outside the Liceo Darío Salas

On Monday, May 25th, at about 10am, there were barricades and clashes between youths and bastards of the police outside the Liceo Darío Salas, where a banner was placed in memory of anarchist comrade Mauricio Morales, fallen in action on May 22nd 2009 while he intended to attack the prison guards school.

Santiago: Intensifying the street struggle for our imprisoned and fallen comrades

On Thursday, May 14th, large demonstrations of students took place in the centre of various Chilean cities. In Santiago, the clashes with the cops were extended for several hours in the streets and universities. We are not interested in these legalist and reformist demands, but we are interested in contributing to the street struggle that takes place at the end of each protest, so as to give another momentum to it. This is why we infiltrated in the campus of USACH to agitate for the comrades Juan, Nataly and Guillermo, who are on hunger strike since the 13th/14th of April, and to remember our fallen compañerxs, especially Punky Mauri ahead of a new anniversary of his death in action.

While the clashes were already underway we went out with more than twenty Molotov bombs to fight the forces of order, and when the material was exhausted we withdrew in a way we believe it has been many years since it was last seen (that is, in universities), by shooting once with a pellet gun against the contingent of special forces; this was a symbolic shot, no big deal, the cops’ life was not put in danger; nevertheless, we have warned the enemy and drawn attention to our comrades. From now on there will not only be stones and Molotovs from the anarchist sectors in public protests.

Antiauthoritarian solidarity with Juan, Nataly, Guillermo and Enrique.

Chilean prisons: Subversive prisoners go on hunger strike, in solidarity with anarchist hunger strikers Juan, Nataly and Guillermo

Comrades, we inform:

That as subversives who inhabit the High Security Prison (CAS in Santiago), from 00:00 today, May 18th 2015, we join the hunger strike that Juan Flores, Guillermo Duran and Nataly Casanova have assumed as a form of struggle.

We do this with a deep sense of anti-prison solidarity, and we put forward the same demands as our comrades, who have already completed 34 days on hunger strike:

– The immediate release of Enrique Alfonso Guzmán Amadeo, taking into consideration the ridiculous accusation and delirious evidence presented by the public prosecutor.

– We demand the immediate solution to the situation of our compañera Nataly Antonieta Casanova Muñoz, because since her arrival at the penitentiary of San Miguel she finds herself in a regime of punishment and severe isolation.

– We demand an end to harassment and persecutions that the repressive forces have unleashed against our closest environment.

– That the scientific validity of DNA evidence be established.

Santiago, Chile: Incendiary attack against patriarchal entertainment

We claim responsibility for the act of vandalism against the night club “café Candela”, located in 5077 San Pablo Avenue, during the night-dawn of April 7th, through the placement of an incendiary device with an ignition system consisting of a slow-burning fuse.

The damage occasioned was far less than we expected, nevertheless the entire facade of this establishment of patriarchal entertainment ended up burnt.

We need only just ask some questions to find out a little more of what goes on right under our nose, to identify this and thousands of such centres of torture, exploitation and subjugation of various species!

Strength to the comrades arrested for burning a Transantiago bus!

Chile: Incendiary attack against construction site of the Santiago Metro

“small actions against the system are not only important to the extent that they contribute to the destruction of the system, but also to the extent that they contribute to the formation of individuals who are free, prepared, conscious of their capacities and limitations, brave and capable of fighting for what they want” (Antitechnology 2009)

We claim responsibility for the incendiary attack against the construction site of the future line 6 of the Santiago Metro, on April 7th, we attacked this representative of social technological progress with an incendiary device of chemical activation.

The harmful consequences of the techno-industrial expansion will not be tolerated without the necessary response, we walk keeping a close watch on your warehouses, supermarkets, areas of urban expansion, the degradation of wild nature in its most extensive forms; we attack and will continue to attack in the fields and your cities, we will defend tooth and claw what remains to be defended and ourselves.

We send our warm greetings to Natalia Collado and Javier Pino.

Chile: Hunger Strike Update

previous related post

On April 20th 2015, it became known that anarchist prisoner Enrique Guzmán has also been on hunger strike since April 14th.

Anarchists Nataly Casanova (under isolation in San Miguel women’s prison), Juan Flores (in Wing 1 of Santiago 1 prison), Guillermo Duran (in total house arrest) and Enrique Guzmán (in Wing 35 of Santiago 1 prison) are on hunger strike (on liquids only), demanding:

• the determination of the validity of DNA “evidence” submitted against them, taking into consideration all scientific aspects and not only the tendentious arguments of the prosecution;

• an end to harassments, abductions, interrogations of people who stand in solidarity with the incarcerated comrades;

• an end to harassments, assaults, disciplinary sanctions against Juan and Nataly or any other prisoner in struggle;

• the immediate release of Enrique Guzmán, incarcerated for being close to the comrades implicated in this case and for regularly visiting them in prison;

• the immediate transfer of Nataly Casanova from solitary confinement to a wing/tower where she will be able to have contact/relationship with other inmates and more time in the prison yard.

In his hunger strike initiation statement, Enrique Guzmán added one more request:

• an immediate end to the home confinement regime imposed on Guillermo Duran, against whom no evidence whatsoever has been presented during the course of this investigation.

Chile: Anarchists Juan Flores, Nataly Casanova and Guillermo Duran declare hunger strike

Anarchist comrades Juan, Nataly and Guillermo were arrested in Santiago on September 18th 2014.

Juan is held in pretrial detention in the Santiago 1 prison, accused of involvement in two bomb attacks that occurred on July 13th and September 8th 2014, and were claimed by the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire (Chile); he’s also charged with participation in a coordinated attack against two police stations on August 11th 2014 that was claimed by C.I.V (International Conspiracy for Revenge).

Nataly is held in pretrial detention in San Miguel prison, accused of participation in the July 13th bomb attack and possession of explosives.

Guillermo is under full house arrest, charged with possession of explosives in relation to the same case.

On April 1st 2015, the three comrades released their first open letter by which they embrace the call for solidarity days with the prisoners of social war in Chile (between the 10th and 20th of April), which was initiated by the rebellious prisoners Tamara Sol Farías Vergara, Alejandro Astorga Valdés, Carlos Gutierrez Quiduleo, Juan Aliste Vega, Freddy Fuentevilla Saa, Hans Niemeyer Salinas, Marcelo Villarroel Sepúlveda, Alfredo Canales Moreno, and also supported by the recently remanded comrades Natalia Collado and Javier Pino.

On April 6th 2015, Enrique Guzmán – a close friend and comrade of Juan, Nataly and Guillermo – was arrested and a few days later sent to pretrial detention, accused of participation in the aforementioned coordinated attack against two police stations. At the same time, the cops have reportedly harassed several supporters of theirs, going so far as to (literally) abduct another compa in the middle of a street.

Juan, Nataly and Guillermo are currently on hunger strike, demanding:
– the immediate release of compañero Enrique Guzmán;
– an end to assaults and disciplinary sanctions towards prisoners in struggle;
– the immediate transfer of compañera Nataly Casanova from solitary confinement to an “ordinary” prison wing;
– an end to harassment of people who stand in solidarity with incarcerated comrades;
– an end to DNA-based prosecutions.

Below are their hunger strike initiation statements that we originally received in Spanish in the early hours of April 15th 2015.

“this is our clear response repudiating and spitting unhesitatingly at the last repressive blow against our close ones”

This is our response to the harassment of Power and its repressive forces against our solidarian circle, relatives, friends and comrades. They are being subjected daily to persecutions, intimidation, harassment, assaults and kidnappings by the cops; in the face of all this clearly because of our criteria and furthermore our conviction it’s impossible for us to sit idly by.

Thus, as of April 14th 2015, we initiate a mobilisation as a form of protest and in response to the emotional blackmail that we are suffering by Power and its repressive institutions. We turn our discontent into practice in an unsubmissive manner, as is our essence in general, using our body as a barricade and initiating the paralysation of our activities and a hunger strike by taking only liquids on the inside, demanding:

– The immediate release of Enrique Alfonso Guzmán Amadeo, taking into consideration the ridiculous accusation and delirious evidence presented by the public prosecutor.

– That the scientific validity of DNA evidence be established. Is there a real certainty of its use being 100% accurate and precise in order to incriminate? Principally there is no scientific certainty of DNA analysis, especially when there are samples with biological traits of several people, while the prosecutor’s office makes use of this evidence as proof of great weight when in fact it is not, and especially the way they have set the evidence in our case tries to have us believe that the biological record that was left behind after an explosion is extremely valid and accurate, even when geneticists and criminologists have discarded its validity and quality.

– We demand an end to harassment and persecution that the repressive forces have unleashed against our closest environment, wanting to achieve intimidation and criminalisation against those who have not hesitated to manifest their love and active, unconditional solidarity. Clear evidence of this harassment is the incarceration of our comrade Enrique [currently in pretrial detention] – who having nothing to hide or deny decided to assist us regularly, visiting us at the various centres of torture and extermination – as well as the abduction of a friend [now released], whom they grabbed by the neck and put by force in a car on a public street.

We demand this cessation of harassment both outside and inside the penitentiaries, since my compañera Nataly and I are being punished daily by the Chilean gendarmerie [prison guards]; clearly our response has not been submissive, and that has cost us several sanctions and assaults, but we clearly intend to meet each other again within the prison instance.

– We demand an immediate solution to the situation of our compañera Nataly Antonieta Casanova Muñoz, because since her arrival at the prison in San Miguel she finds herself in a disciplinary regime and severe isolation, and the screws ignore the requirement for her transfer to another wing, leaving our compañera in a “prison limbo”. We demand the immediate transfer of our compañera to a wing/tower where she will be able to have contact/relationship with other inmates and more hours in the yard, because since arriving there she has only had an hour of yard time, this being a conduct/protocol completely irregular.

INDEFINITE LIQUID-BASED HUNGER STRIKE

Juan Alexis Flores Riquelme
1st Wing, Santiago 1 prison

*

Since Monday, April 13th 2015, I have started a hunger strike through the ingestion of liquids (only drinking water) against the reprisals of state apparatuses to our closest environment (relatives and friends). Fed up with the deliriums of prosecutors in the southern zone and the lies of the prosecutor Raúl Guzmán, in their media, attempting to incriminate Enrique Guzmán in order to incorporate him in the rotten course that has allowed the initiation and continuation of his investigation (spectacle, persecutions, harassments, threats and even abduction of a friend by plainclothes cops).

We put our consciousness, affectionate ties and ideas against this play of Power, rejecting the imposition of their antiterrorist or whatever laws, because their legislation solely defends their order of privileges and parasitic lives.

Here, within their prison walls, we are neither defeated nor alone, as they claim; we continue to be unsubmissive, free and dignified, fighting anew with our body as a weapon against those who wish to cage and bury struggle, dignity, love and solidarity under the concrete.

We demand:

– The immediate release of our brother, friend and compañero Enrique Guzmán, incarcerated for being close to us and for visiting us in prison.

– An end to persecutions, harassments, abductions and interrogations of our family members and friends, for being those who support us in this situation; because Power is seeking to isolate us.

– We also demand the end of harassment by jailers against all prisoners who are facing this place with dignity; every beating and humiliation will always have an answer, none of us is alone. I stress the increasingly violent harassment and cell raids against my compañero Juan Flores, and that I find myself in a similar situation.

– Their DNA evidence have no scientific validity due to the scarcity and quality of the samples, and that goes for the variety of available biological mixtures, too, as these may coincide with many individuals, and such are the proofs presented by prosecutors as their best evidence. We demand the determination of the validity of DNA evidence through an analysis of methods and samples; considering all scientific aspects, not only the tendentious accusation of prosecutors.

– On a personal level, I let everyone close to me and those who are not indifferent to confinement know that, for 7 months that I have been in preventive detention, I am being held in severe isolation with only 1 hour in the yard a day, without any recreational activity, apart from those that I’m providing myself; so, under this regime, I’m being denied any workshop or recreational activity available in the penitentiary with the excuse that we are very few inmates in our wing. I live with only one inmate/prisoner, sometimes with more, but all are rotated, being myself the only one that’s kept in this unstable situation. Due to the above, I demand the immediate change of wing.

SOLIDARITY, AGITATION AND ACTION AGAINST THE REPRESSIVE ADVANCES

EMBRACING EVERY STRUGGLE AGAINST DOMINATION

Nataly Casanova Muñoz
San Miguel women’s prison

*

To relatives, friends and comrades. To public knowledge.

On April 14th 2015, at midnight, I begin a hunger strike by taking liquids (only drinking water) for the fulfillment of the demands that I indicate below. This is a means of struggle and solidarity, by which we put our health and life at risk. This decision was motivated by recent occurrences that have struck our close environment; Enrique’s arrest, persecution and harassment of our close and solidarian circle, aggression and punishment exercised by the prison guards towards Nataly and Juan. Finally, a whole tangle of machinations exerted by Power and its apparatuses (the Press, prosecutors, cops, etc.), aiming at halting the effective solidarity with our incarcerated comrades.

I know that situations like this are not new, both in this country and in different parts of the world; we/I take examples of struggle wherever these exist, that’s why today and within my rather limited possibilities, I decide to abstain from solid foods in solidarity with my brothers and sisters. We/I carry out this struggle against those who say they practice law and make decisions for the good of society, trumpeting equality before the law, when their own laws and society have been forged by the inequality that reigns under the domination of capitalism.

I cannot stay inert and passive in the face of this repressive context that today strikes my brothers and sisters, so I stand in solidarity with the indefinite hunger strike until our demands are met:

– the immediate release of our brother and compañero Enrique Guzmán Amadeo, arrested and kidnapped by the State, only thanks to the delirious imagination of prosecutors and their yearning to suppress solidarity towards unsubmissive prisoners.

– no more harassment and aggression against Juan and Nataly by prison guards; and, additionally, the cessation of persecution and intimidation towards family members, friends and solidarian people by the State, its prosecutors and cops.

– a solution to the prison situation of Nataly Casanova, compañera held in severe isolation from the beginning of her preventive detention (September 23rd 2014), having only one hour of yard time, and being denied the possibility of coexistence with other inmates who are not being punished, or access to activities of recreation and apprenticeship (workshops, etc.). We demand her immediate transfer to another wing in which this humiliating situation be remedied.

– the scientific clarification of the validity of DNA evidence. That the validity of the analysis method and the accuracy of its results be taken into account, depending on the quality and composition of the samples. Today these DNA proofs are used as the main incriminating evidence in the case, even though both their origin and quality are far from the purported scientific certainty that the prosecutor’s office intends to give to these “magnificent” proofs.

Only struggle and solidarity deliver what is negated by the State; it’s only in this way that we can confront this world con$tructed by and for them.

Anarchist Diego Ríos was arrested on February 7th 2015 after being a fugitive for five and a half years, charged with possession of explosive materials (after his mother snitched him out to police during the summer of 2009).

On March 30th, after spending nearly two months in the Maximum Security Section of the High Security Prison (CAS) in Santiago, the comrade managed to change the precautionary measure of preventive detention to night-time house arrest ahead of his abbreviated trial. Diego admitted possession of items that could be used for explosive devices. On April 2nd, he was sentenced to 541 days of probation. So, the comrade is now free.
