Corinth, Greece: Urgent call for antifascist demonstration (23/8)

After the transfer of nearly four hundred migrants in a military camp of Corinth (about 80 kilometres southwest of Athens) literally in the middle of the night, antiracist/antifascist citizens released the following call for immediate protest and resistance:
“The Antiracist Initiative of Corinth denounces the conversion of Corinth military camp literally overnight into a Nazi-inspired concentration camp, where already 400 migrants have been imprisoned.

We denounce the racist pogrom under the name ‘Xenios Zeus’ that today was also launched in our city. In the process of this police operation, fellow citizens of ours are being detained and transferred to Athens, with the color of their skin being the sole criterion for mass detentions —over 100 people have already been detained.

Our answer is clear: no concentration camp ever and anywhere. We refuse to relive the horror of fascism. The authorities want us to start eating and blaming each other. We say no to social cannibalism. We must fight impoverishment, not the impoverished!

Everyone to the protest rally against fascist pogroms and concentration camps, today: Thursday, 23/8, by 18.30pm at Perivolakia Square in Corinth

Neither in Corinth, nor anywhere – Stop concentration camp and racist pogroms

It must be emphasized that earlier in the morning (according to a mainstream media video) fascists, official members of Chrissi Avgi/Golden Dawn, made their appearance outside the military camp and attempted to blockade the entrance of Xenios Zeus-vehicles, allegedly ‘protesting’ because a military facility was chosen by the State as concentration camp for migrants… It is very probable that tension will escalate in the city of Corinth in the next few hours.
