Solidarity to the steelworkers strikers
We are one fist. Ready for the hardest class confrontation!
Your participation to the struggle is not a matter of solidarity; it is a matter of life and death for the working class as a whole.

On Thursday, December 22nd, comrades from Athens free radio station 98FM paid one more visit to the factory in Aspropyrgos, where they handed over to the strikers of the Greek Steelworks the amount of money (€910) gathered in the benefit event which was organized by the radio programme ‘Ypokoultoures’ (Subcultures) of 98FM in solidarity with the strikers. The comrades would like to thank everyone who strengthened the fair struggle of the steelworkers, who in turn warmly thank all supporters.

Greetings and solidarity from Madison, Wisconsin, USA!
I’ve been following this strike on and off, and it is inspiring to see that it’s been going on for 65 days now. Here in Wisconsin, there’s been a strike of machinists at a plant that manufactures construction cranes which has been going on for 50 days, which has fortunately seen support from the surrounding community, especially in light of the uprising that occurred here last winter.
Anyway, I was wondering if you folks on this blog know a way of getting in touch with the Hellenic Steel strikers, because I had the thought that perhaps sharing international solidarity between these two strikes may be a welcome morale booster for both of them. Do you agree?
More generally, I want you to know that I am watching from across the pond and I am consistently inspired by the fighting spirit of the Greek workers. What happens in your country echoes across the world, and we’re standing in solidarity.
You may contact Indymedia Athens at imc-athens-editorial@lists.indymedia.org, or kindly send us an English coverage of the Wisconsin strike at contrainfo@espiv.net.
Comradely regards!
Here’s the info on the strike of the machinists at Manitowoc Cranes in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. 200 workers have been on strike and have manned the picket line since November 15th. The issue being fought over is language that has been put into their contract which would make it much more difficult for the union to continue existing. There aren’t wage/benefits cuts yet, but once the union is gone these will surely follow.
Here’s some blog posts and articles about it:
