In the context of the annual week of solidarity with anarchist prisoners, some anarchists in Sydney visited the Indonesian consulate in Maroubra on Thursday the 23rd of August.
A banner was tied to the fence around the consulate reading: “Bebaskan tahanan perang kelas di Yogya” (Freedom for class war prisoners in Yogyakarta). Dozens of leaflets were also distributed and scattered outside the embassy.
Anarchists in Yogyakarta have faced a wave of repression following the 2018 May Day demonstration, which saw flaming barricades in the streets, a police post torched and a call for the local Sultan to be killed.
Dozens of anarchists and class war comrades were arrested following the demonstration and a number of them are still in prison facing trail.
We wish solidarity and strength to all anarchist and revolutionary prisoners in Indonesia and worldwide.
Given that climate change is brought us the colder summer of the last thirty years, given our constant and organic demand to ignite with passion and of warming ourselves with the rebelliousness of our daily struggles, we will light our flame this fall! And so returns the Anarchist Book Fair of Lisbon, on 26, 27 and 28 October, and again in the beautiful woods of Penha de França.
If you want participate with your publisher / distributor / information space or simply to come spread some words of subversion printed on paper, write us to email@example.com
See you later!
From Montevideo-Uruguay, we invite all to participate in the 7th Anarchist Book Fair.
The machine of capitalism continues its colonization in every sphere of our lives, commodifying relations and ravaging the eco-system. Civilization remains framed in its routine of production and consumption, while development is making surveillance and repression devices increasingly sophiticated – targeting all that break the imposed codes and change normality.
We live on times of over-information, where the media are increasingly efficient in the task of forming absolute truths, built through reports that promote fear and submission to those who make the game of state domain. The blindness put together by the spectacle`s media show is growing, generating a focus of attention manipulated and trimmed to the taste of the powerful. This ensures even more dependance and adulation to punitive and repressive institutions, as well as favoring old-style military and “hard hand” mechanisms, which are another symptom of social decomposition.
The planet is at the stage of environmental collapse, fruit of capitalist productive methods that overwhelm the surrounding environment, causing a systematic decay whose consequence is the murder and impoverishment of life.
While democracy offers a reassuring policy based on dialogue and mediation, right or left wing governments offer different ways to administer the same misery, leaving a free reign for exploiting macro-enterprises and multinationals. Reformist solutions spring up everywhere as sleeping pills, giving rise to the rearrangement of a system that perpetuates its hegemony and achieves a more benevolent and acceptable coverage.
As anarchists and anti-authoritarians, our position must remain firm and sustained. If we want to be protagonists – pregnant with change, heading for a world of reciprocal solidarity – where each individuality lives with the rest in total freedom, then we must fight the capitalist monster in all its facets and variants. Confrontation is inevitable – as long as we mantain intact the conviction of transformation – but we should think strategically. Drawing a revolutionary practical imaginary in the present is a necessary and vital challenge – since taking responsability for a world that breaks down into pieces requires an incorruptible commitment, where halftones don`t work. That why we call to the 7th Anarchist Book Fair, to carry out instances of reflexion and dialogue that feed our capacity to make contact with the present – since now is when we have to exercise to develop a creative force that opens to another way of life.
We have to rethink the dynamic ways of defending ourselves from the powerful and their puppets, from the responsible for the devastation. It is time to expand and propagate the transformative practice as a potencial for a life in freedom – opposed to the interests of politicians and businessmen who seek conformist approval. Installed passivity must be replaced by a lively and rebellious attitude, which spreads the desire for change, which infuses the reaffirmation of the foundations of horizontal self-organization, as a generalized model. We still have a lot to think about and project in this direction, because lowering guard and resignation is no option for freedom lovers.
CALL FOR AN INDEPENDENT MATERIALS FAIR – ACTIVITY OF THE SIXTH
INTERNATIONAL WEEK FOR ANARCHISTS PRISONERS
In response to the call for a “Sixth International Week in Solidarity For Anarchist Prisoners,” which will take place all over the world from the 23rd to the 30th of August, there will be a first winter fair of independent materials on August 25th.
This is an open call for anyone who wants to send us proposals with an anti authoritarian focus to add to the activity. In addition, it is mainly an invitation to participate in this initiative that will happen in the “Tia Estela Space” , a squat of homeless people located underneath the so-called “Alcântara Machado Bridge” in São Paulo. Any contribution to self-management of this space is welcome.
The struggle for freedom is impossible without fighting against prisons. These disgusting spaces are surrounded by walls, violent forms of control, security devices and constant vigilance. Without such a structure it would be impossible for any state or any government to remain in power. It is necessary to see prison not only as the main tool of domination against the subversive people who prefer war to the passivity of the masses, but also as a laboratory of the system and one of the main means to perpetuate slavery and work.
A battle was lost but even behind the bars the struggle goes on. Within jail, in a contained and continuous way, are the conflicts against the juridical apparatuses of the nation states and all moralistic society that supports it. This reality prolongs the journey towards the destruction of civilization, the predatory machines of cybernetic and industrial world, all the grids, walls and borders that slaughter life on earth.
For these and much more, it is a lot necessary to support the anarchist prisoners, to not leave them alone and with this, to turn our eyes upon the pillars that give shape to the enemy.
“To live anarchy contains the risk of ending in prison” – Marco, Alexandria prison.
A full schedule will be available on August 23rd. Send a message, send a contribution!
– Yesterday, 44 of our comrades were arrested accused of property destruction, provocation, and fighting with the police. Night legal team tried to reached them but still cant make it, as they have been isolated (02.05.18)
– One of the Legal Aid was arrested and beaten.
– Until now our 12 comrades are still imprisoned and the police continuing the witch hunt.
International solidarity for arrested comrades whatever means necessary!
Although this is an exclusive communique towards Yogyakarta or Indonesians in general, we call for international pressure and solidarity against this rotten feudal system that still exist in this century!
Greetings to the beloved people of Yogyakarta, those who vilify our
demonstration which was intentionally intended to censure the
institution of Kraton in Yogyakarta.
Believe us when we say that we already knew, even since before we
carried out our demonstration, that there would be an antipathy from the public towards our demonstration. It is very understandable. Feudalism creates this belief that kings and the royals are like half-divinebeings; their authority is sacred and self-justified. Somene becomes a ruler in a feudal system because they happened to be born in the right family: the royal family. The whole feudal territory is the property of the king and his royal family, and the people are just occupants who can be evicted any time at the king’s will.
The sytem is perpetuated by, among other things, this irrational belief towards the feudal rule. In Yogyakarta, feudalism is what makes Yogyakarta “special”. Politically, this special status means Yogyakarta is not governed by an elected governer like other provinces in Indonesia. Instead, the region is governed by a governer who is also a Sultan. Socio-culturally, this special status has another meaning; it gives a false sense of pride to the people of Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is special because it is ruled by a Sultan, and the people are proud about it.
How is being ruled by someone with an unchecked power something that you can take pride of? What is so proudful from being a subordinate of another human being, solely because they were born in the royal family?
Our demonstration was not meant to draw sympathy. If drawing sy mpathy was what we were aiming, we wouldn’t have done a demonstration that disturbed the reproduction of social values like what we did. No, our demonstration was not intended for that. We are not a political party, a“leftist” organization, an NGO, or the proponents of the incumbent rulers or their opposistions, who need people’s endorsement and sympathy.
WE ARE ALSO NOT PART OF PMII; FAIZI ZAIN AND HIS CRONIES WHO EXPECTED A RIOT TO LIFT THEIR AGENDA OF OVERTHROWING JOKOWI FOR THE BENEFITS OF THEIR POLITICAL MASTERS! THEY ARE POWER BROKERS! WE ARE NOT!
Our demonstration was meant to disturb the circulation of capital in
Yogyakarta. We intentionally want to create a non-condusive situation for capital investment, be it national or foreign, that will intensify the development and gentrification that disenfranchise the middle and lower class people in Yogyakarta.
We had guessed that the public would be infuriated by our vandalism and provocative calls.
The destruction of one police post and the call to “murder the Sult an!” have massively angered the people of Yogyakarta. The anger is absent when the police repeatedly, with violence, is at the front line of conflicts between people’s interests and the rulers’, on the side of the rulers’ of course, like the one in Temon, Kulonprogo, where there is an on-going process of land-grabbing by the Sultan through the legitimation of Sultan Ground/Pakualaman Ground, a feudal land ownership system, on behalf of the expantion of tourism industry capital. The anger is also absent when the inhabitants of the urban kampungs (informal settlements, slums) have to deal with water shortage, caused by the usage of ground water by hotels and apartments, which construction is being intensified, under the blessing of the Sultan of course.
That call to “murder the Sultan!” that have angered some people of
Yogyakarta, whether we wrote down the call or not, wheter the call was literal or symbolic, has its own importance in ratteling the authority of the Sultan in Yogyakarta, which is seemingly sacred and
unquestionable; a power with no control mechanism because it is
protected by “faith” towards the Sultan’s self-justified authority. This
“faith” is responsisble for the disenfranchisement of the people. Soon er or later, you who are reading this will probably be disenfranchised by the “development” in Yogyakarta too. A “development” for the interests of the Sultan and his cronies; local and national corporations; domestic and foreign invetors.
Yes, the Sultan is one of the main orchestrators of many problems in
Yogyakarta; eviction, land-grabbing, gentrification, and the develo pment that disenfranchise middle and lower class people. The Sultan and his royal family, and also his cronies, are the ones who dominate every economic aspect in Yogyakarta.
Yogyakarta is one of the most economically unequal provinces in
Indonesia. The development in Yogyakarta is not carried out for the
interests of the people, but for the interests of the ruling class: the
capitalists and the feudals. In Yogyakarta, the two vile sytems are
having an affair, while crushing the people under; those who aren’t the royals and are the middle and lower class.
Mothers, aren’t you tired of having to visit your children at prisons,
twice a week, who probably had to steal or rob people just to survive?
And the reason why they are in these overpopulated prisons in Yogyarta is the deeply rooted poverty that is prevalent in Yogyakarta. Does your Sultan care?
And then, are we gonna keep fooling ourselves, thinking to oursevels
that everything is fine? Or even, “special”?
We have no interest in being admired. We are not a political party who need people’s votes on elections.
We are just people who are sick. Sick of everything that is going on
around us and how the people are lulled by this false consciousness,
telling them that everything is fine.
We’re calling to the middle and lower class people, intellectuals,
artists, academics, those who claim to be liberals and moderates, and
others who choose to be “neutral”. Do you remember the historical event that gave birth to the concept of modern nation-state? The period that you call the Enlightment Period, where the kings, queens, and the royals were guillotined at the Place de la Révolution. Didn’t it create what you call as democracy?
We don’t mean to repeat or glorify history. The democracy that you
uphold and sell out is not bringing us anywhere other than to poverty, ecological degradation, and dienfranchisment.
We are the libertarians. We are what you call as anarchists. We dream of a world where people cooperate with each other, work together, rule over themselves, in a horizontal way, without rulers, the royals, political contract, social contract, or the capitalists. We want a life in its truest form, where human’s natural desires are in tune with nature; a life without class, racial, ethtnic, religious, and other false divides.
We are what you call utopists.
We want a free society without oppressors. We want a society where
people can have any beliefs, sexual orientations, or anything without
fearing being persecuted.
Action weekend 23-24-25 Feb against the new squatting ban in Belgium! In the summer of 2017 a new law was voted in Belgium to make squatting illegal. In autumn the law came into action.
We would like to call out for an international weekend in solidarity against the new law. Because autonomous spaces are endangered worldwide, because we will never stop to claim our spaces.February 23rd – 24th- 25th 2018
In October of 2017 in Penza six anarchists and antifascists were arrested by officers of Federal Security Service on a charge of creating a terrorist group. Moreover, in that time the period of raids in anarchists and antifascists’ houses has started all over Russia. The objects of Security Service’s attention were different people from absolutely different towns. At last, a new wave of detentions was launched in January of 2018. An antifascist Victor Filinkov was kidnapped by Security Service in Saint Petersburg. The officers of Federal Security Service have been torturing him in the forest out of the city. They told Victor to admit his participation in mythical anarchy-terrorist group. Unable to withstand the torture Filinkov was forced to incriminate himself and now he is remaining in Temporarily-staying Isolation. Filinkov’s lawyer claims that he has never seen so serious damages and trails of the torture during his practice of struggle with a police outrage.
There is another antifascist who has claimed about torture in St. Petersburg. Ilya Kapustin was also threatened by officers from FSS, but he has refused to incriminate himself and after that he was released on bail. There weren’t any proofs that anarchy-terrorist group exists in real life, only the confessions gained by the threats and torture.
Nevertheless, police is doing everything in order to force people to confirm an existence of mythical terrorist organization named “Net”, spoofed by FSS. The officers affirm that this organization has a lot of cells in every town. It means that the situation which has occurred in Saint Petersburg will be observed in the other Russian towns very soon.
Obviously, everything what’s going on in our time is an attempt to clear out an anarchist movement before the Elections of the President in 2018.
In recent years we could see how the anarchist movement increased its activity after the repressions of 2012 year. These repressions can only intimidate people and crush the anarchist movement.
In this case it’s necessary to show that we are not afraid and we can’t be destroyed by their force. Otherwise, the repressions will be used every time when the anarchist movement calls an attention of FSS. We should show them that the stronger their repressions, the more furious will be our resistance. Now it’s important to support the prisoners, to prevent the continuation of the “witch hunting” and give a global publicity for this event.
Days from the 5th till 12th of February are the days of solidarity with repressed Russian anarchists.
Arrange different street actions, evenings of solidarity, distribute information in the media and in the Internet. Do everything you can come up and implement. The only one weapon we can counter the face of the state terror is the unity and solidarity with each other. Without these two things we will be crushed by this monster one by one.
We are ready to provide the space for publication solidarity actions, just send them on firstname.lastname@example.org

Cops, judges, prosecutors, mass-media. They are haunted, imprisoned, robbed, manipulated. This is a challenge to all Revolutionary cells and other groups and individuals. Sabotage the activities of those bastards. Turn them into terrain, technology and structures. Organize resistance. Support the fugitives and their loved ones.
Video of the demonstration which was called by the Anarchist Initiative for Total Liberation of Animals & Earth and that took place in Athens on 04.11.17, within the context of the International Week for Antispeciesist Actions (October 30-November 5).
In the event and in support of the International Week for Antispeciesist Action, we communicate the performance of a sit in, planned for the 30th of October, from 9 a.m., at the courthouse of Milan in solidarity with the comrades who, on that day, are going to be subjected to the second hearing regarding the occupation of the animal facility of the Department of Pharmacology of the State University of Milan, that occurred on the 20th of April of 2013, and that led to the liberation of 400 mice and a rabbit, in addition to the disclosure of the documentation, intended to bring down the wall of silence which still allows to excuse the exploitation of animals.
The cages are not just that four heavy walls that contain the animals, forced to suffocate between the narrow gears of the conveyor belt, prisons without light, labs closed between walls that have been stripped for years by lacerated nails, mutilated paws, but they are every room that has bars, even mental ones. Freedom is a moral duty that urges the individual to extend it to the multitudes, without limits or barriers, regarding the species, the skin, the color or the scent. As long as there is still one of us who is imprisoned don’t talk to us about rights. Our rights have the shape of the blade which denies them to others. Labs are full of beings who are massacred and stoned to death for our rights, to extend, up to a day, our chained lives, the lives of the “Us” who are shortsighted, and have the convictions of brotherhood and respect, a controlled and dosed kind of respect. Furthermore, scientific research through the suffering of non human animals carried out within the walls of universities, has many valences: considering individuals as tools, objects, goods which can be used as it wishes, makes university a place where speciesism is taught and instilled in students’ minds; very often research performed at the universities is carried out in collaboration with big pharmaceutical groups and grants from companies and private foundations like Telethon: where university should be the base of free and democratic knowledge, there this knowledge, along with students’ minds, is sold off and commodified.
We are complicit and in solidarity with the ones who are victims of a repressive system that criminalise liberators, legitimising those who make their weapon of control and social manipulation out of the prevarication of non human and human animals; and who are subject to imprisonment or reduced to a mere commercial item. For total liberation, against any form of slavery and exploitation of Earth by humans, of animals by humans, and of humans by other humans, as long as there is submission there will be rebellion: in memory of Barry Horne, Jill Phipps, Clement Meric, Remì Freise and of all the victims of fascism, capitalism and speciesism.
The sit in is independent, self-determined and self-organised with a grass-root approach, free from any symbol of parties and associations, based on the principles of antifascism and, therefore, antispeciesism.
Hierarchical and discriminatory attitudes are not going to be tolerated, consequently those who don’t respect the values of an initiative which aims to total liberation are going to be banished.
This is a letter from the libertarian prisoner Marcelo Villarroel concerning the case of Santiago Maldonado who is still missing. It also has a call for action. His words are welcome by us!!!
Fire to the prisons!!! We want our comrade Santiago Maldonado alive now!!!
translated by tormentas de fogo
CONSTANT STRUGGLEAGAINST ALL JAILS, AMNESIA AND COWARD PASSIVITY!!!
These words are born and become necessary at the same time when it is necessary to embrace all those who give themselves without limits when seeking encounter with total liberation.
For the expansion of the revolt, for the unequivocal confrontation with power, for the extension of autonomous practices to deny domination and everything that makes possible its existence.
As I write, hatred and anger guide me… While each person realizes his life, there is a dear friend missing…
SANTIAGO MALDONADO – el “Lechu”, el “Brujo”, disappeared.
And I can not stay silent or ignore his physical absence.
Since we had to live prison in the region dominated by the Argentine state, our steps crossed. There were us, the prisioners in the province of Newken and there was Santiago, in the city of La Plata, next to a universe of active comrades, sharing complicity and standing in solidarity…
It’s been more than 9 years since our footsteps have crossed the continuous path of the brotherhood, this path that sets both of us on the same side of the trench.
Because we have to say clearly: We are at war against oppression and misery! Against all the police, states, countries and cowards that accommodate their speeches and lives to make it harmless and integrated.
There is no way to forget that we who have decided to continue the offensive take permanent risk. We are not passive victims of circumstance nor mere spectators.
Just like Santiago, a person in complete coherence with his anarchic feelings, who is missing since August 1st, when he was kidnapped by the Gendarmería (intermediate force between the Police and the Army), while actively supporting the Mapuche struggle in Cushamen, province of Chubut, in the south of Argentina and near the Chilean border.
It’s been a month already and Lechuga did not show up. And although Santiago is among all of us who do not forget or abandon the daily struggle, his physical presence is lacking.
We will bring him back by striking blow by blow, multiplying his gestures and actions throughout the planet against the miserable ones responsible for his disappearance.
From prison, today, my call is to deepen the attack against amnesia and fear. Because those who say they believe in anarchy must act in accordance with this conviction.
Hundreds of revolutionary prisoners around the world united by similar convictions, we are the living expression of a struggle with no nations and no borders that seeks the total destruction of all the chains, cages and prisons where most of the people on this planet are living.
These are times of combat, we can not hide the obvious.
The rebellious and ancestral fire is incinerating the machines of predatory capital, the insurrectionist blood spilled from our fallen comrades is among our war rituals, our silent conspiracies seek the only possible justice: vengeance becomes urgent and necessary.
FOR SANTIAGO AND ALL COMRADES THAT DIED: NOT ONE SINGLE MINUTE OF SILENCE BUT A WHOLE LIFE OF COMBAT!!!
INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY AND FRATERNITY FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF ALL PRISONS!!!
UNTIL THE DESTRUCTION OF THE LAST BULWARK OF THE PRISON SYSTEM-SOCIETY!!!
International anti-capitalist demonstration against G20 summit:
G20 Welcome to hell.
Thursday, 6 July 2017 4 p.m., St. Pauli Fischmarkt, Hamburg
When the heads of government of the world’s 20 most powerful countries are arriving on 6 July and the assembled world media are waiting for news from the crisis zone around Hamburg’s exhibition halls, we’ll be already in the streets.
We are mobilizing internationally to turn Hamburg into a location and an exclamation mark of resistance against old and new authorities of capitalism.
A demonstration at the G20 summit’s eve will express protest and resistance, radical critique and practice against the patriarchal and capitalist state of affairs. We are resisting the discursive priority of receptions and fireside chats during the days to follow.
G20 is creating a temporary state of emergency and its political bias stands for everything we are fighting against. The police and military are present on the roofs of Hamburg during the summit, and they are perpetuating capitalist regimes all over the world. Neo-liberal and protectionist capitalist models are both similarly part of global exploitation, walling-off and impoverishment.
Whether this cynical violence is going to be obvious or rather superimposed by grand receptions and beautiful pictures is also at stake during Hamburg’s hot days. We are opposing the summit as well as any effort to include political critique and resistance as a part of the summit’s orchestration as a democratic institution. Summits like G20 and institutions like IMF, WTO or the World Bank being instruments of peace, human rights or climate policies is one of the great lies and illusions of the powers-that-be.
When the pieces of global politics are picked up after the summit on 9 July, capitalism and exploitation will still exist. At the end of the day, there will be final statements and success-oriented resumes of the assembled bodies politic and the public. Crises and wars are part of the capitalist system, likewise protest and scandals are part of the summit orchestration. It’s up to us to open a new page and new resistance perspectives.
The apparently unchallenged triumph of capitalism has left behind a trail of devastation. War is prevalent not only as military conflict, but as well in more and more people’s minds. A racist mob is mobilising in Germany, around Europe and all over the world. Racial and nationalist ideas are getting acceptable again. Among others, right-wing populists and fascists have managed to accomplish a shift of society’s discourse to the right.
Strong states and closed borders are being called for more and more forcefully. Proxy wars for spheres of interests – instruments of world order created in the century before last and the one before that – appear more than ever to be legitimate means to achieve political ends. We are living in a time of rising nationalism and hate towards minorities. Pogroms against refugees and other population groups beyond majority, attacks on homosexual, trans* or inter* people as well as the significance of fanaticism of whatever persuasion are increasing dramatically.
Migration and flight will be focal points of the summit and of the protests as well. It’s not freedom of movement for all, not even safe flight corridors to prevent mass death in the Mediterranean, to be established. Rather, borders and the flow of goods are being safeguarded. Cynicism and fishy deals prevail, while the summit is taking its course.
The logic of capitalist value is supposed to expand into the last nooks in the metropolises as well as in rural regions‘ periphery. Yet, world-wide capitalist penetration is also connecting the terrain of resistance. For instance, resistance against mining projects in Columbia is linked to urban-political struggles against the coal power station Moorburg in Hamburg harbor which is using Columbian coal as a resource.
Devastation and migration due to global warming are related directly to the struggle for the right to stay. Connections of capitalist exploitation interests can be demonstrated, criticized and confronted politically. G20 resistance is supposed to focus on these inter-dependencies on a local and global scale and to develop mutual relations and resistant practices.
Various and unpredictable mass resistance will disrupt the smooth proceedings of the summit’s performance. Many people will stand up against this staging of power – politically and practically. Unlike civil opposition, we are not going to suggest alternatives in order to keep the capitalist system alive. We are going to oppose oppression, exploitation and exclusion with collectivity and solidarity.
Organise yourselves, be creative and contribute vociferously, angrily and powerfully to the international anti-capitalist demonstration on 6 July. Let this demonstration be a first expression of our resistance and our unconciliatory antagonism towards the prevailing conditions and the summit spectacle. Up with social revolution!
We will start on 6 July at 4 p.m. with a great opening meeting. Cultural, musical and political contributions will be held. From 7 p.m., the demonstration will be approaching the red zone and the final meeting will be held a stone’s throw from the summit’s location in the exhibition halls.
Don‘t let capitalism get you down – live resistance!
Autonomous and anti-capitalist alliance “G20 – welcome to hell!”
Thursday, 6 July 2017 4 p.m., St. Pauli Fischmarkt, Hamburg
A summary of ideas expressed during the convergences on the theme ‘With our heads held high’
State repression is the most important part of the system of domination and one of its most disgraceful expressions; it doesn’t surprise us that those who are struck most are historically those who don’t let themselves be recuperated by the system of power, i.e. anarchist, revolutionary and rebel individualities.
The latter respond to the physical, psychological, moral, social and economic repression unleashed by all the components of democratic power and to the brutal indiscriminate violence of its armed hands and the judiciary. This they do with direct action aimed at those responsible for repression, with the creative and liberating destruction of the places of domination and the sabotage of its infrastructures, so as to put an end to, or at least hamper, the causes of exploitation and oppression by human beings against other human beings, the earth and animals.
From the perspective of total liberation, passively watching the reproduction of domination means being complicit with it, so there are those who continue to hold their heads high and rebel.
As a consequence, power activates all its strategies and the trials and proceedings still continue against comrades for actions, episodes of conflictuality and writings. Next month there will be an appeals trial concerning the so-called Operation Shadow, in which a number of comrades are accused, among other things, of criminal instigation following the publication of the paper KNO3.
These judicial proceedings are an expression of the war that the authorities are waging against the bond between thought and action, which is the foundation of anarchism’s dangerousness. Beyond individual and specific struggles, this police operation aims at striking the cardinal concepts of antiauthoritarian ideas and methods such as direct action, refusal of delegation and solidarity.
Starting from these reflections during the meetings that developed after the arrests in Operation Scripta Manent, we felt it necessary to not reduce solidarity to the technical support of those who are in prison, not dwelling on the strategies of repression, but widening the spectrum of our analysis.
In this respect, we discussed how solidarity is a fundamental element of our anarchist action and relations of complicity aimed at the destruction of domination. This form of solidarity goes beyond repression’s attacks, and is capable of not letting itself be suffocated by the specificity of the trajectories of struggle when we recognize ourselves in a common tension of attack. In particular, active solidarity is an essential instrument to respond to state violence, refusing to take its blows passively but maintaining a stance of attack, so as not to develop attitudes of victimization which is what repression wants. The risk of isolation can be reduced and one of the enemy’s most important goals can be made ineffective by thinking in offensive terms,
keeping in mind permanent and internationalist conflictuality beyond each one’s specific path.
To express solidarity with specific contexts and projects doesn’t mean one must conform to the discourses and practices of those who have been struck, nor does it mean to necessarily follow in the wake of a given struggle or practice: if we recognize ourselves in a common horizon we can act in solidarity according to our own individual tension. Creating of relations of solidarity on a local and international level is a strategic objective which we should give ourselves in order to face the strengthening of repression’s means and will against anarchist, revolutionary and rebel individualities
We think it necessary to address our proposals, projectuality and objectives towards the destruction of the system, which organizes social relations of domination by flattening dissent through recuperation, and wherever this is not possible, by eliminating it through repression.
In this respect, we recognize the importance of multiform actions and practices within anarchism. Precisely because the more differences that exist in a context, the stronger the possibility of not getting stuck on pre-arranged dogmatic positions, provided that any specific struggle and attack is part of the wider view of tension towards subversion. To recognize the value of this diversity also means to lay the foundations for opposing all centralizing and dominating tendencies within anarchism.
This is only possible through an attitude of constant self-criticism and critique between the different approaches, an attitude that moves towards qualitative growth of both an analysis of what surrounds us and of the various possible ways to organize the destruction of what oppresses us.
By refusing to classify or make it possible for others to classify our different tensions into identity categories, we think that any attack on authority interacts with social mechanisms and relations and at the same time acts against society itself.
From a strategic point of view the existence of multiform practices is useful for nourishing the complexity of the forms of organization and attack, and enhances the discussion on means and ends within the different anarchist projectualities of action. It is absolutely necessary to understand how to give value to this diversity without diluting its contents in the view of a common project of total destruction of the system of domination.
It is important to consider different proposals and projectualities not as being antithetical and static but as being instruments, resources and possibilities at anarchists’ disposal, provided that they have certain characteristics that we believe are fundamental, such as permanent conflictuality, attack, independence from institutional hierarchically-organized political structures, and informality as a tool of organization.
By permanent conflicutality, we mean a tension towards the irrecuperability of our practices and discourses, the refusal to submit our action to opportunistic evaluation. This doesn’t exclude the possibility of developing a strategy referring to modalities and objectives, but this cannot be a justification for wait-and-see attitudes or the watering down of our own content for the sake of a quantitative broadening.
From this point of view we reiterate the refusal of any collaboration with power or that lends itself to recuperation. By the latter we intend power’s strategy of absorbing experiences and behaviour that is potentially dangerous to itself and of directing them towards its goals. In democracies the mechanism of recuperation is complementary to the harshest face of repression and has the goal of perpetuating the system of exploitation and oppression: the attempt at inclusion and integration of some forms of dissent is meant to increase participation in the political game, thus creating divisions in order to more easily attack those who don’t want to participate in the spectacle of society. Anarchist action for the destruction of society and domination responds to the tension that refuses authority, and therefore doesn’t negotiate with the latter but wants to overthrow it with violence, and a wider strategy that starts off from the awareness that we will never live free by creating islands inside mass society.
It is therefore beyond question that the struggle, in order not to be reformist, has to contemplate direct attack as a practice. Following Operation Scripta Manent Alfredo, Nicola, Danilo, Valentina, Anna, Marco and Sandrone are being held in high security units, subjected to restrictions and censorship of communication with the outside.
Some anarchists find themselves in prison in Italy and in the rest of the world, while others here and elsewhere are undergoing various restrictive measures, such as house arrest and compulsory residence orders.
We call for mobilization in the month of June in solidarity with anarchist, revolutionary and rebel individualities struck by repression, as an occasion for coordination between initiatives and practices.
Rome, 30th April 2017 Anarchists
Operation Shadow is a procedure based on article 270bis, which Perugia prosecutors started in 2008. The crime of association was dropped in the first grade trial, and in the 2015’s appeal trial it resulted in a sentence of 3 years against two comrades, a third comrade being investigated for article 302 with the aggravating circumstance of terrorism following articles published in KNO3, and sentences against other comrades for attempted sabotage on a railway line and car theft.
As part of our call-out for an Anti-Capitalist May Day we would like to provide some information about an event we will be holding, as well as some general information and ideas surrounding the initial call-out.
We are an initiative made up of various individuals who are working towards organising an Anti-Capitalist themed May Day event in Armidale, which is situated on Anaiwan land (an area in so-called Australia). The aim of the event will be to bring people together to hold discussions on our conditions and experiences as workers; to devise strategies for improving our lives; and to build support for all sectors in struggle, whether worker, unemployed, local or refugee.
Our initial call-out was a general call to action, and for those who would wish to, or are interested in, an encouragement to organise their own events wherever they are. Here, in so-called Australia, yearly we see a sombre march made up of political parties, bureaucratic trade-unions walking the same set-out route with no feeling, inspiration, or general opposition to the status-quo. What is worse, is that at the end, it usually culminates in a speech from a labor party leader.
From many anarchists/anti-authoritarians/anti-capitalists, we here the same arguments year after year: that is is a great opportunity to get our information out, that we need to be involved with those who are already involved in a union or want to take part in a march. While this may be true in the smallest way, the fact we walk passively behind a contingent of labor, liberal and greens party members is really enough to chuck any argument in defence of this misery out the window. How can we really demonstrate a shift from the perspective of beautifying an exploitative system when we are only tagging along to a procession that has long forgotten the need to struggle against capital and state? We do not condemn those who take part in these rallies, we just envision and hope for more; we desire a movement that can point to, and address the disasters of capitalism. This one day won’t amount to that, but it can highlight so much more than a march made up of political parties/supporters of this cruel system.
We take inspiration from our comrades in Montreal – as well as those throughout the world – who have in determined fashion continued to remember and demonstrate the anti-capitalist and subversive spirit May Day emanates from.
It may not be much, it may not be taken up everywhere or even elsewhere, as we desire, but it will not prevent us from trying. To start somewhere is all we can attempt.
May 1st is a day of solidarity with other exploited people across the world and within our communities. This is a call to reclaim and rebuild the history and struggle against oppression with an anti-capitalist gathering, celebration and resistance.
This year we will commemorate those who fought with their lives for an 8 hour workday in Chicago over 100 years ago, and the innocent anarchists who lost their lives at the hand of the law. On May 1st 2017 we will stand against capitalism, colonialism, borders and the state; we will stand for freedom, community and self-determination as we continue the struggles of workers started so many years ago.
Capitalism continues to steal land, life, culture and language from in the name of profit. The empire it has built on stolen land keeps workers under the boot of the bosses, the unemployed under the boot of the state, as our labour increases their profit margins and we merely survive and dream of the lives we can live in our worn-out bodies come retirement.
On May 1st, 2017 we will gather as anti-capitalists against the systems of oppression that commodify our basic needs and force us to work for our daily bread. The food from the fields and trees and the houses on the streets have all been packaged into marketable products and fenced off from all who cannot pay the price. We are forced into work to feed, clothe and shelter ourselves, our families and loved ones. We are left to beg, steal, squat, and be put in a cage if our survival offends.
But our lives belong to us! Let’s live them in dignity! From popular education to direct action, all tactics are good for reclaiming our freedom from the powerful! It’s time to turn our demands and mobilisations up a few notches!
As long as there are workers that can be exploited for less, here or abroad, wages will be pushed down. As long as our struggles do not include all those suffering under capitalism, the governments will keep cutting down other oppressed folks to give crumbs to the rest, while keeping the biggest part of the cake for itself. This is why class war requires an understanding of how our interests oppose those that are getting richer every year because of the increasing gap between rich and poor, whether locally or internationally. Let’s celebrate a May Day of real solidarities! Let’s not become divided! Lets attack together those who benefit from these conflicts, and overthrow capitalism while we still have time!
We invite all who face oppression to stand up wherever you are; workers, students, carers, unemployed, and undocumented. Through self-determination and mutual aid, we can make our dreams a possibility!
For a world without bosses. For life without exploitation.
On the 7th and 8th of July 2017, when the most successful war criminals of the present, the most unscrupulous sweaters of human and nature, the self-titled leaders of this planet, meet in Hamburg, they will not be confronted and thus be revaluated with some demands for better governance or social enslavement.
They will feel the rage of the street, when they are rushing with their convoys through deserted districts and talk about the nightly attacks of the last few weeks.
This call, like so many others at similar meetings, does not want to lose itself in an analysis of the importance of the G-20 summit or the policy of their participants. The injustice of the world has been declared a thousand times, anyone who now feels no urge to act, does not need another text.
We want to speak of those who are already involved in the struggle against capitalism and its exerting states with their conforming societies – so, of US.
Since Seattle in 1999, summit protests were a catalysator of radical resistance; individuals and groups came together, swapped ideas, were standing together behind the barricades and carried the flame of resistance back to their regions. Even the shots of Gothenburg and Genoa, or the numerous infiltrated snitches could not stop the development of a Europe-wide chaotic network of autonomous / anarchist / antiauthoritarian tendencies.
Then the criticism of event hopping came up, as if someone had pleaded for it to operate as a riot tourist in any city. The protests against the G – 20 in Cannes and Nice 2011 were prepared in this champagne flush of some movement managers. Everything should become different, better, more political. At that time no conclusion or analysis was spreaded afterwards – the resistance had simply failed, only the usual alibi NGOs played their program.
So now it’s Hamburg and the responsible persons in the murderous headquarters of the secret services, police authorities and military commandos are tearing their hair. They fear that We are coming. But we do not have a leadership that can be eliminated, our resistance does not depend on the cadre behavior of some individuals. Perhaps nothing will happen if you, who is reading this text right now, will not get active. Do not expect others to prepare something for you, so that you just have to jump up.
For sure there will be a big demonstration of the left idiots, who want to play their democratic ritual, as a certain Mr. Marx or Lenin applied to them 150 years ago. And maybe we will be there, too, or at the edge or behind the lines of the cops. There is still plenty of time to think about and prepare this.
However, we are calling for a campaign in the run-up – against any form of power. We want to destroy, by July 2017 (and if only symbolically …) the rule of patriarchy over women, the rule of the states over their borders and urban centres, the rule of labor over our time, the rule of money over our social behavior, the domination of the goods about our lives, the rule of the cops over the fear of repression in our minds.
In Hamburg and in every village, an infinite number of targets are suitable for destruction, so we should start now with it. So that in July 2017 the alienation between the world of the G – 20 and the rest has become so great, that we no longer need summits to come together. The militant campaign against the G8 in Heiligendamm 2007 could serve as a model, because it also gave, apart from pointless preliminary proceedings, a new generation of activists through self-determined clandestine actions and the fleeing cops from the hail of stones in Rostock, a feeling of their own strength and the possibilities of horizontal organization.
In addition we also call for a theoretical deepening of our practice, in which the presence or absence of anarchy should be tested for revolts, as recently in France, spectacles such as in Frankfurt in March 2015, rituals such as on May 1, or in the everyday neighborhood policy and in the fight against nazis.
Because everywhere where we are not present we cannot complain about the dominance of reformists. And where there are only empty phrases with an A available, it makes the superficial chattering of a “consensus of actions” heard with following distancing. Such a discourse would have to go beyond the hitherto (welcome) brief G – 20 references in the responsibility claims.
Our resistance against the G-20 summit does not want to be „victorious“ in the sense of preventing this event. It just could be the beginning of something that could also start on any other day: The self-empowerment of the individual over the existing and the (self) organization in collective structures. But just a call to that one would hardly pay attention. Therefore,
