Demo banned downtown – Evade repression – Decentralized action day instead
The bulls (aka cops), the pigs, they go nuts
According to local mainstream media, the unauthorized demonstration for liberated spaces that was planned in solidarity with anti-authoritarian structures, squats and social centres in Greece for the 2nd of March 2013 was prohibited by the municipality of Leipzig. The authorities show their instant will to criminalize these actions and give priority to the shopping Saturday instead of the fundamental right of the freedom of assembly.
Thus, it would be irresponsible of us to carry out the demo as planned, because it is now legally easy for the cops to arrest or control any presumed demonstrator, and to charge people with infringements. We expect that the balance of forces in this action will be unfavorable for us. That’s why we suggest: don’t walk around in groups and with clothes typical of our ‘scene’ in the city centre this day! However, we don’t want to give in either, and register a different demonstration route. Our reasons not to submit to these rules persist.
But now, more than ever before, decentralized action day is needed in Leipzig!
Recent developments in Greece still make us furious, conditions such as a laboratory of crisis and social aggression, repression against antagonist movements, and police state, imminent fascistization of society and extreme marginalization of refugees. And right here, in a country of alleged ‘winners of the crisis’ where the Capital, the government and the repression agencies are interconnected at various different levels with these developments and demand this situation in Greece, our dissent against all this shit must be shouted even louder.
To evade the prohibition strategy this Saturday downtown, and nonetheless find a place to express our solidarity, we call out for a day of decentralized action across various districts of Leipzig! Let us show to the cops our appreciation for this ban by making them even crazier, popping out in every nook and cranny of the city. We thus welcome any kind of solidarity expression for the evicted squats in Athens and anywhere else; for the comrades who are held and tortured in prisons because of their commitment; for liberated spaces and the struggles around them.

Imagination and possibilities have no limits: from general urban beautification, creative design at open spaces and alternative heating, to squatting and spontaneous demos — everything is possible. We are aware of the fact that there is not someone in particular — neither the ‘bad bankers’, nor the big corporations — to be found ‘guilty’ or held responsible for the crisis of the Capital, or capitalism as such. But the crisis is dealt with by political and economic decisions which now serve leastways as justification for the policy of impoverishment/precariousness, repression and de-democratization of the society in Greece. Institutions that participate in, or profit from this politics of crisis are represented in Leipzig as well: the Deutsche Bundesbank are the most rigorous representatives of a tough austerity policy in Europe; Siemens sells industrious surveillance and police technology also to the Greek State; the Deutsche Bank and the Commerzbank secure their investements as major creditors of the Greek State, while they are committed to the policy of austerity cutbacks and social deprivation…
