Members of the Niš antifa group took action to commemorate Dragan Maksimović, who died on the 4th of February 2001, after he had been brutally beaten by a fascist gang in the centre of Belgrade on the 17th of November 2000. The fascists attacked him because of his dark complexion, thinking he was Roma.
Antifascists covered walls in Niš with posters which read: Fascist hatred killed a great actor. ‘Our aim was to honor the well-known actor and remind in which way he lost his life. To draw people’s attention to the existing problem in society, instead of waiting for something like that to happen again. Rest in peace, Dragan. We don’t forgive, nor forget,’ said one participant in the flyposting to blogtipomogo.
