Does Anyone Have a Doubt?

On January 5th, 2011, one of many pigs that make up the DIAS squad (a special police force instituted two years ago consisting of two-person units on a motorcycle equipped with a “license to kill”) ran over a 6-year old Roma girl, killing her. Almost immediately, people gathered in solidarity in Menidi shouting slogans and confronting the police. The following is an announcement on the event by the anarchist space “Thersitis” located near Menidi.

Does Anyone Have a Doubt?

That it wasn’t just a “traffic accident”? That all the world’s “self-evidence” did not contribute to this tragic outcome? The “bad timing”, the “involuntary lapse” or the cop’s “bad calculations”, the 6-year old’s “carelessness”, the fact that “Gypsy cross the street without looking”, that the “Gypsy’s area is a jungle”…

That the DIAS squad pieces of shit – among which stands the anonymous and free DIAS cop who served at the Menidi precinct, the kid’s killer – with their balaclavas and their sheriff-style macho pose have swarmed our neighborhoods in order to spread fear of the omnipresent state punishment…?

Does anyone have a doubt that the DIAS squad pieces of shit -especially those who serve at “rough neighborhoods” like Menidi- have been granted the constitutional green light from politicians and their corporate bosses to institute their fiendishness on the neighborhoods as a functioning code of oppression? That indifference for all those social groups targeted by oppression is the one that will strengthen police arrogance? That the social groups residing in Menidi are the “Gypsys”, the “Russian Pontians”, the immigrants and Menidi’s youth?

If anyone has seen the two-wheel DIAS gangs rolling around Kyprou street in the “Gypsy’s area”, if anyone has seen their attitude, their jumpiness and their stare as they roam the “rough area”, they should know by now that they identify guilty people, criminals, suspects and subhumans everywhere. They should know by now how the “accident happened”…

P.S.: The confrontations and the people’s rage in the “Gypsy’s area” of Menidi is a factor of destabilization that had to blow over at any cost. That’s why besides the infinite forces of oppression sent to Menidi, along came the well-known channels of communication with the “VIPs” of the Roma community of Menidi. They managed to succeed in what the SWAT teams, the tear gas and the encirclement failed at.

The quiet in the neighborhood is just superficial, temporary and sneaky. It doesn’t take a lot of occasions to unleash the rage.
