Pretrial detention in Koridallos prisons of a trade unionist worker who was arrested by plainclothes cops

A trade unionist, Nikos Saritzoglou, who worked in the quarries of Araxos, has already been imprisoned for one month in Koridallos hellhole. An arrest warrant had been issued against him that concerned an old minor debt. This warrant has not been disclosed to him. In insidiously way, the worker was arrested in 9 December 2010 while he fought to maintain the workplaces in the same quarries. Since then he is detained, and waits to stand trial in March 2011. A unionist employee, a minor debtor, gets imprisoned in a way which resembles clearly to junta at the same time that politicians (among others) plunder and lead to failure an entire country.

The quarrier was arrested outside Patras’ television station Tele Time. An officer from the Security Police Headquarters of the city called him on the phone and pretended to be a reporter of this TV channel. The alleged ‘journalist’ (sleuth) asked the unionist for an interview on the matter of Araxos quarries (which were closed by the end of 2010, and many workers were left unemployed). The secret cop urged N. Saritzoglou to defend the workplaces of his 120 colleagues on TV. The unionist agreed. When he arrived outside the TV station, plainclothes cops were waiting for him and arrested him on charges that he had debts to the State.

One more action of the Greek police that refers to the era of junta, when trade unionists (among others) were arrested and detained with underhand and illegal methods.
